If this works, here's the latest off my bench.
It's a Tele copy, flamed maple top, mahogany body, birdseye neck, Ivoroid binding.







And, this next--if it works--shows the maple p/up ring that Mattia inspired me to make. I stained it a charcoal black to match the p/up, but I wanted a bit of the flame to show through.

Hey Steve! That is very nice! I didn't think you made electric guitars, too.
I like how you did the back, the laminations are pretty. And did you make the control cover from the same wood, or just find a matching piece? Did you wire it up with anything fancy, like coil-cutting? A few guys in the MGL group are all making teles, I'll show them your pictures!

Ok, here's the neck--



And the peghead. I changed my typical logo, turning the bottom leg of the "K" into a lighting bolt.
Seemed appropriate for an electric.

I loveeeeeeee the neck, beautiful workmanship as ever. Is that an oil finish on the neck ?

Ok, now I have a couple of suggestions. <G> I think you should keep making electrics! (Maybe you already have been making them Steve and I don't know) but take things beyond the "clones" of standard looking models. The workmanship is great, but a set neck is much more classy if you ask me, and it allows a really smooth "blended" neck joint if you want that. Look at Les Paul type neck joints. And maybe you want a shape all your own! You certainly have the skills to stretch things a bit, while keeping a traditional vibe. How heavy is this guitar? Did you make any chambers in it?
hope you don't mind me spouting these things, it's just that seeing a great guitar gets me thinking.

Wonderful Steveocaster! I LOVE the back laminate! Great idea. I have been playing Tele's since I'm a kid. This is a really great one.What did you use for the neck bolt "grommets"? (can't think of the correct word right now!)I was thinking of buying the neck system from Vintique. Costly , but I can't seem to find anything in my hardware searches as of yet. Great git Steve!

You are a kind bunch of folks. Many thanks! I was lured into this project by a friend who said he wanted this very guitar. I already had the body blank sitting around the shop for quite a long time, and when talking to him one day, he bit.
Q's: How does it sound? It's the screamin-est, rockin-est, barkin-est... well, at least in my head it is. I really don't know how it sounds! It's not been played through a good amp yet. I've got a small test-amp here, which only tells me if it's wired up successfully. The switch is one of those Megaswitches from Stew-Mac, and this one (P model) splits and adds different coils together like a PRS 5-way does.
Oil finished neck? No, just rubbed lacquer. It's hard to make birdseye maple look bad.
Neck grommets? StewMac supplied.
Cover plate? Not the same piece as the back. Our own DaleM supplied the piece for the plate, and I think it works out well with the grain of the back.
Any chambers? Only for the controls, which turned out to be a pretty large cavity. And yes, this guitar is quite heavy. That'll teach the owner to play acoustic!
Walter--do you recognize the p/ups? They're Adder Plus, at the request of the owner.
I wish I could copyright "Steveocaster". That's clever.

Beautiful work! Quite loving it! Man, I really have to finish those two Fender-style bolt-ons I've got sitting outside, waiting for spraying.

Glad the pickup ring worked out, and nice to think I had a miniscule part to play in the design of that great instrument.

Steve, the image experiment was a success, as was your guitar! What a beauty!

Is there some secret Archlute society in Texas? Joshua's already offered a swap for an Archlute.

If I built 400 Archlutes do you think I could build up a complete OLF members museum of guitars? With the way the forum is getting new members I don't think I could keep up.
